All aftermarket Ion bolts weigh less than stock. Ours is no exception. Many sacrifice durability to gain this weight advantage, we didn't. Turned from a single piece of 6061 Aluminum (The Good Stuff), No Glue, No Press Fit, ONE SOLID PIECE. Carved out air chamber to allow for the increase of air storage in the Ion fire chamber, giving your gun the ability to run on a lower operating pressure with no "Shoot Down". Dual O-Rings on the bolt tail allows the firing chamber to be sealed off as the gun fires, thereby increasing efficiency. (This technology is under license from Dye ).
Prior to releasing this bolt we tested every bolt we could get our hands on. Some were good, some not, but one thing we kept noticing is they were all over the place when it came to generating consistent velocity groupings. A really bad thing if you play tournaments or like to shoot and be accurate. So we played with the internal air passages until we found the configuration that facilitated the right chrono groups, we felt our product needed before we would sell you one.
